The Beginning

One workshop. One standard. Since 1966.

In 1966, brothers Yaakov and David Hangal established a workshop in central Israel driven by a simple belief: a Torah case, a kiddush cup, or a menorah are not merely Judaica objects. They are part of a family's heritage — creations meant to be preserved, to accompany families, and to be passed from generation to generation.

Nearly seven decades later, the same standard of precision, quality, and responsibility continues to guide every creation that leaves the studio.

Heritage

Nearly seven decades of uncompromising craftsmanship.

The Beginning

1966

Two brothers. One vision.

Yaakov and David Hangal founded Achim Chai Judaica Manufacturing Ltd. with a clear philosophy: the objects that accompany the most sacred moments in family life deserve to be created with the same reverence in which they will be cherished for years to come.

Growth & Evolution

1980 to 2010

A craft shaped across generations.

Over the years, new generations of artisans joined the workshop, and the catalogue expanded to hundreds of designs. Families and synagogues in Israel and around the world chose creations that were shipped to the United States, Mexico, France, and other countries. Each one was crafted to the same uncompromising standard of quality, precision, and finish.

HAY Design

Today

A new generation of craftsmanship.

HAY DESIGN is the new studio from the house of Achim Chai. It was founded to carry forward a tradition spanning decades, through a contemporary design language and creations born from the meeting of traditional artistry and innovation. Every piece is crafted with the same commitment to quality, precision, and finish that has guided the workshop since 1966, alongside a fresh design approach that looks to the future without relinquishing the heritage.

— The Making

Five stages, one piece, one signature at the end.

Stage 01

Sketch & Planning

Every creation begins with a vision.

The studio's graphic designer translates the family's ideas, inspirations, and desired style into an accurate and striking visualization. Every detail is carefully examined until a perfect sketch is created, serving as the foundation for the unique Torah case.

Stage 02

Plating & Luxury Finish

Perfection is built in layers.

The plating process involves immersions, polishing, and precise finishing that give the metal depth, brilliance, and exceptional durability. A special protective layer is then applied, followed by the installation of the selected gold ornaments and decorative elements.

Stage 03

Handcrafted Assembly

The moment raw materials become a masterpiece.

The team of artisans assembles each Torah case with precise handwork. Every part is carefully fitted, every joint is inspected, and every detail receives full attention until a flawless result is achieved.

Stage 04

The Final Touches

The personal seal of the creation.

The master craftsman examines the finished case and installs the crowns, finials, inscriptions, and other selected elements. After rigorous quality control, the case is approved and packed for optimal protection and preservation.

Stage 05

The Finished Creation

More than a case. A legacy for generations.

At the end of the process, a unique creation is revealed — one that combines artistry, tradition, and luxury. A case crafted especially for you, to accompany the Torah scroll with honor and become part of your family's and community's legacy for years to come. Every case is a unique creation. Every creation is a story. Every story is a legacy.

    A dedicated representative

From the first conversation to the moment the case is placed on your table, a single representative accompanies the project — Hebrew, English, by phone or WhatsApp. The peace of mind is part of what you commission.

— A note from the atelier

Made today. Passed on tomorrow.

Every commission begins with a conversation. Tell us about the piece you have in mind — the inscription, the family it will live with, the table it will sit on, the year it should be ready for.

From the first sketch to the moment your case is unpacked, a dedicated representative walks the entire process with you. Hebrew and English. Phone or WhatsApp. The peace of mind is part of what you commission.
